Ministry of Higher Education Launches Cloud Computing Platform to Support Egyptian Universities and Research Centres

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote digital transformation and develop the technological infrastructure of Egyptian universities, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announces the launch of a new cloud computing platform. The platform enables universities, institutes, and research centres to benefit from the latest digital technologies in the fields of education and scientific research.

Professor Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirmed that the launch of the cloud computing platform aligns with the Ministry’s strategic direction to support digital transformation, enhance the efficiency of the educational process, and provide an advanced technological infrastructure. This infrastructure enables researchers and faculty members to access, quickly and securely, the latest globally adopted digital tools used in data analysis and the management of academic and research applications.

The platform aims to provide a secure and reliable environment for data storage and the operation of academic and research applications. It also enables universities to utilise advanced tools for big data processing and information analysis, supports educational programmes in artificial intelligence, data science, and digital transformation, and offers high-performance computing capabilities that meet the needs of all universities. In addition, the platform enhances integration among digital platforms and systems within the higher education ecosystem, while ensuring ease of use and accessibility anytime and from anywhere, thereby supporting academic and research productivity.

In this context, Professor Sherif Keshk, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, explained that the new platform represents a significant step towards developing an advanced research environment within Egyptian universities. He highlighted its role in enabling educational institutions to benefit from the latest cloud computing and data science technologies, as well as in strengthening digital integration across various academic platforms.

The launch of the cloud computing platform forms part of the State’s comprehensive digital transformation strategy in higher education and scientific research, keeping pace with global developments and enhancing the regional and international competitiveness of Egyptian universities in the fields of technology and innovation. The project also supports the Ministry’s efforts to develop the digital capabilities of students and faculty members.

The Ministry has launched a secure cloud computing services platform dedicated to artificial intelligence research for faculty members and researchers at Egyptian universities and research centres, in cooperation with the Information Systems Department of the Ministry of Defence.
