Prof. Dr. Essam Farahat, President of Minia University, has announced a ministerial approval to launch two groundbreaking academic programs at the Faculty of Computers and Information starting from the 2025/2026 academic year: Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, and Cybersecurity.
The new programs will be open to students who completed their secondary education in the Science or Math streams, as well as transfer students from other computing faculties, provided they meet the minimum admission score set for governmental computing faculties for their respective streams.
Prof. Dr. Farahat emphasized that these programs represent a qualitative leap in education, designed to graduate technically, technologically, and professionally qualified cadres. These graduates will be equipped to keep pace with rapid technological advancements and meet the evolving demands of the modern labor market.
He added that the university is committed to continuously developing its academic bylaws and implementing robust evaluation mechanisms for its programs. This effort aligns with the guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education to ensure compliance with all necessary standards for delivering high-quality education.
The university has allocated all essential resources and infrastructure to support the launch of these programs under the credit-hour system. It is fully prepared to receive specialized committees to assess its readiness for the programs' commencement.
For his part, Dr. Essam Halim, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, elaborated on the programs' objectives. He stated that they are designed to prepare a skilled workforce capable of navigating advancements in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and cybersecurity.
"The curriculum is built to provide students with advanced educational experiences and practical skills," Dr. Halim explained, "This includes training in real-world work environments and developing their research and consultancy capabilities. A key focus will be on promoting security awareness to protect digital assets and effectively address emerging cyber challenges."
